Embraced by nature
Genzo Sarashina, the great poet from Teshikaga Town, wrote about Eastern Hokkaido as follows.
Some people say," The real Hokkaido can be foundbeyond the border of Karikachi "and I unequivocally agree.
Lake Kussharo, one of the three famous lakesin Akan-Mashu National Park,
which was designatedas a national park in 1934,
is the largest caldera lake in Japanand the second largest in the world.
It is also the largest freshwater lake in Japan where the entire surface of the lake freezes over.During the severe winter season, you can see the "Omiwatari (god's footsteps)", a raised line of cracked ice.
As the name Caldera, which means pot or kettle in Spanish, suggests,
the area is surrounded by mountainsand has beautiful blue water calledKussharo Blue.
WAKKANUPURI was createdin January 2017 in Nibushi Onsen,
on the northeast shore of Lake Kussharo, and WAKKA BBB openedtwo years later.
And in 2023,WAKKANUPURI RESORTS FURE and WAKKANUPURI RESORTS RERA opened on the shores of Lake Kussharo.
All four lodges are based on the concept of"one group per day,"
where guests are not allowed to share a room with other guests,
and where Japanese chefs serve dishes that focus on seasonal ingredientsfrom the East of Hokkaido.
Enjoy a relaxing andextraordinary time
in the untouched wilderness whereEzo deer, Ezo squirrels, and foxes roam.

We run innslimited to one group per dayon the shores of Lake Kussharoin Eastern Hokkaido.
From spring to autumn, the sounds of birdsand wildlife echo around the inn,and you can enjoy trekkingand bold fishing for native trout. In winter, when the world is white, the days are over minus 20 degrees Celsiusand the lake begins to freeze, the inn is a time of silence.
While carefully protectingthe beautiful nature of Lake Kussharo,we aim to create an inn that can provide our guestswith an extraordinary and special time.
